Pupils and staff of Orondora International School, located at Number 10 Urua Ekpa Avenue by Etuk Abang Street off Uyo Road in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, have embarked on an educational excursion to TAF Media Group as part of efforts to expose them to the practical aspects of media and broadcasting.
The media organisation is the owner of Planet FM, TangSio FM, and Spectrum Television.
Speaking with our correspondent, Idongesit Eni, some of the pupils expressed excitement about witnessing firsthand how radio programmes are produced and broadcast live. They described the excursion as an important learning experience that helps students understand possible career paths in media and communication.
The pupils also expressed appreciation to the school management for organizing the visit, noting that the opportunity allowed them to learn new and interesting aspects of broadcasting.
Speaking during the visit, the school’s administrator, Praise Anointing, said the institution remains committed to providing pupils with quality education and exposure beyond classroom learning.
She explained that the school focuses on building strong academic foundations while equipping pupils with relevant modern skills. According to her, the institution places special emphasis on mathematics through structured programmes such as a Math Academy, Abacus training, and mental mathematics, all designed to strengthen pupils’ confidence and understanding of the subject.
She added that the school also integrates 21st-century skills, particularly coding and animation, to prepare pupils for the digital future.
The administrator further noted that the school is currently admitting pupils into various classes including Crèche, Pre-Nursery One and Two, Nursery One and Two, and Primary One to Six.
Beyond academics, she stated that the school focuses on developing pupils’ communication skills, confidence, moral values, and spiritual growth, helping them build positive relationships with their parents, society, and God.
Also speaking, the teachers described the excursion as a valuable learning experience that exposes children to opportunities beyond the classroom.
According to them, such experiences help children discover their interests early and prepare them for future opportunities.
They emphasized that the school remains committed to raising well-rounded children who are confident, knowledgeable, and ready to contribute positively to society. The teachers also encouraged parents to enrol their children in the school to benefit from its comprehensive academic programmes and exposure-based learning approach.
Our correspondent reports that the pupils were taken on a guided tour of TAF Media Group, where they visited various departments and were introduced to several broadcasting tools used in radio and television production.
