The 2025 edition of the Engineer Enobong Patrick Unity Cup is set to commence on December 7th, 2025, in Odoro Ikot, Essien Udim Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, with the opening match between Idung Esimuk and Ikot Udu at Q.I.C. Primary School, starting at 3:00 pm.
A statement from the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), signed by Reverend Father Joseph Sandy, confirmed that a total of 17 teams will compete for the trophies sponsored by philanthropist and construction expert Engineer Enobong Patrick.
The tournament groups are as follows:
- Group A: Idung Esimuk, Ikot Udu, Ikot Uko, Ikot Okon
- Group B: Ikot Umoessien, Ikot Idem, Ikot Utin, Ikot Ibanga
- Group C: Ikot Ineme, Nto Akpako, Ikot Ekpenyong, Ikot Udom Obot, Ekpenyong Ufum
- Group D: Ikot Ebok, Ukana Ikot Ntuen, Ukana Mbak Ukọt, Ikot Andem
Speaking on the sponsorship, Engineer Enobong Patrick stated that the tournament is aimed at empowering youths through sports and providing Odoro Ikot youths with a meaningful Christmas season by engaging them in an activity they love. He added that the competition will also serve as a platform for talent discovery, with scouts from football clubs expected to be present.
Patrick expressed optimism that the tournament would help some participants secure opportunities to play in the Nigerian Premier League, in line with the youth empowerment vision of the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno.
The LOC release further noted that the opening ceremony will feature prominent sons and daughters of Odoro Ikot, Essien Udim chieftains, captains of industry, friends of Engineer Enobong Patrick, and community leaders.
