“Our Demands Must Be Met Within 72 Hours” — Terrorists Issue N6bn Ransom Threat

Fresh fears are mounting over Nigeria’s worsening security crisis after terrorists issued coordinated ransom demands totalling N6bn for hundreds of abducted victims in Borno and Kaduna states, warning that “our demands must be met within 72 hours.”

In Borno State, suspected Boko Haram insurgents are demanding N5bn for the release of 416 women and children abducted from Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area. The group delivered the ultimatum through intermediaries, intensifying anxiety among families of the victims.

A video released by the insurgents showed the captives and included a direct warning to authorities, with the group cautioning against any military rescue attempt while reiterating that “our demands must be met within 72 hours.”

Meanwhile, in Kaduna State, suspected terrorists who attacked Ariko community in Kachia Local Government Area on Easter Sunday are demanding N1bn for the release of several kidnapped residents, including vulnerable individuals.

The incidents have left communities traumatised and highlight the growing scale and boldness of mass abductions across the country, raising urgent concerns about the effectiveness of current security responses.
