The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 6, Mohammed Musa Auwal, has lauded Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for his unwavering commitment to security and consistent support to the Nigerian Police Force.
AIG Auwal made the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Governor at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Uyo.
He praised Governor Eno’s proactive approach to security and noted that if other state governors across the country adopted similar measures, Nigeria’s security challenges would be more effectively addressed.
“I must commend you, Your Excellency, for the level of support you have given the Akwa Ibom State Police Command,” Auwal said. “The infrastructure upgrades and logistics support you’ve provided, particularly at the State Police Headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia, are commendable. This kind of collaboration should serve as a model for other states.”
The AIG also appealed for continued cooperation between the State Government and the Police, highlighting the benefits of sustained synergy in maintaining peace and order.
In response, Governor Umo Eno reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to the safety and well-being of all citizens and residents of Akwa Ibom. He expressed gratitude to the police and other security agencies for their selfless service and effectiveness in maintaining law and order across the state.
“Security is one of the cornerstones of our administration,” the Governor stated. “We are grateful to the Nigerian Police and other security agencies for working tirelessly to keep our state peaceful and safe. Our progress would not be possible without their efforts.”
Governor Eno also acknowledged AIG Auwal’s past service in the state and assured him of continued partnership to ensure effective policing. As part of his administration’s support strategy, he announced plans to install solar-powered lighting systems in police stations across the state to improve service delivery.
He further praised the State Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara Azare, for his transparent and prudent use of the state’s resources allocated for security purposes.
The Governor concluded by expressing appreciation to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and AIG Auwal for prioritizing Akwa Ibom in their operations and tours, pledging ongoing support to the police for the benefit of residents.
