The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has strongly condemned the alleged assaults on women and girls during the Alue-do festival in Ozoro.
In a statement, she stressed that no tradition or custom permits the violation of the dignity or freedom of any woman or girl, and called on relevant authorities to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
The First Lady also commended the Nigerian Police Force for the arrests already made, while urging victims of the incident to seek appropriate medical and psychological support.
