Uyo, October 3, 2025 — Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has ordered the immediate dissolution of all statutory and non-statutory Boards and Commissions across the state.
The directive, issued under the authority of Section 6 of the Statutory Boards (Special Provisions) Law, 2023, was made public in an official statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah.
Governor Eno expressed his appreciation to the Chairmen and Members of the affected Boards and Commissions for their service and contributions to the implementation of his administration’s ARISE Agenda, which focuses on sustainable development and inclusive governance. He further extended his best wishes to them in their future endeavours.
The statement instructed that all government properties and assets in the possession of the dissolved Boards and Commissions be immediately handed over to the most senior civil servant in each of the respective bodies, pending further directives.
While the statement did not disclose reasons for the sweeping move, political observers view it as part of a broader administrative restructuring to align governance structures with the Governor’s policy priorities.
The dissolution takes effect immediately, and further announcements regarding reconstitution or new appointments are expected in the coming weeks.
