The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dismissed a widely circulated Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result claiming a candidate scored 394 out of 400 in the 2026 exam, describing it as completely fabricated.
The result, shared on the social media platform X, alleged that a female candidate, Okon Winniefred Sampson, achieved the near-perfect score. However, JAMB raised concerns about how quickly the claim gained traction, even among well-informed Nigerians.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the Board clarified that the document does not match its official result format. It stressed that UTME results are currently only available through its authorized checking channels and remain strictly “view-only” at this stage.
JAMB noted that the existence of a downloadable or printed result slip circulating online is a clear red flag. It further pointed out that the document appears on a fabricated template, which alone is enough to discredit its authenticity.
The Board urged the public to rely solely on official platforms for accurate information and to be cautious of misleading content spreading online.
