French champions Paris Saint-Germain successfully defended their UEFA Champions League crown after defeating Arsenal F.C. 4-3 on penalties following a thrilling 1-1 draw that remained deadlocked after 120 minutes.
Arsenal made a dream start to the final when Kai Havertz capitalised on a defensive error to give the Gunners the lead in the sixth minute. The German forward raced into the penalty area and fired a powerful effort beyond goalkeeper Matvey Safonov.
The early setback appeared to jolt PSG into action as the holders gradually took control of the contest through the attacking influence of Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, and Vitinha.
Despite dominating possession and creating several opportunities, PSG struggled to break down Arsenal’s disciplined defence during regulation and extra time. However, the French side held their nerve in the penalty shootout, converting four spot-kicks to secure a 4-3 victory and retain the European title.
The triumph further cements PSG’s status among Europe’s elite clubs, while Arsenal were left to rue a missed opportunity after pushing the defending champions all the way in a dramatic final.
