The Senate has urged the Federal Government, through all relevant security agencies, to intensify efforts and deploy necessary resources for the immediate rescue of teachers, pupils, and students abducted by terrorists in Oyo State.
During plenary, Senators condemned the abduction in strong terms, describing it as barbaric and deeply troubling, especially as it targeted schools, and called for urgent measures to strengthen the Safe Schools Initiative, improve surveillance, intelligence gathering, and security deployment around vulnerable communities.
They also stressed the need for accountability and oversight of security spending, with lawmakers urging the armed forces to be more transparent and effective, while reaffirming their commitment to working with the Executive to end insecurity and secure the release of the abducted victims.
