Tinubu Decorates Tunji Disu as Acting Inspector-General of Police

President Bola Tinubu has decorated Tunji Disu as the Acting Inspector-General of Police, charging him to restore peace and strengthen security across the country.

The ceremony, held at the State House in Abuja, followed Disu’s appointment as the nation’s top police officer after the resignation of former Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, whose exit from office was confirmed by the Presidency.

Describing the appointment as coming at a critical moment in Nigeria’s security trajectory, President Tinubu urged the new police chief to rebuild public confidence in the police and deepen collaboration with other security agencies. He also tasked Disu with advancing the security pillars of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, expressing confidence in the Acting Inspector-General’s discipline, operational experience and leadership capacity.

In his response, Disu called on police officers nationwide to redouble their efforts in the discharge of their duties and strive to exceed the expectations of Nigerians amid prevailing security challenges.

The Acting Inspector-General further assured that his leadership would encourage professionalism within the Force, pledging to lead with compassion while upholding the principles of honesty and integrity.
