President Bola Tinubu Eyes Oil Production In Ogoniland, Tasks National Security Adviser, NNPCL On Talks,

President Bola Tinubu has directed the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, to coordinate negotiations with various parties within Ogoniland in the oil-rich Niger Delta area to resume oil production in the area.

The President, who gave the directive in Abuja when he received Ogoni leaders including Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Aso Villa, said his administration would prioritise peace, justice, and sustainable development in the area. 

According to reports, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, was also at the meeting.

Tinubu called for unity and reconciliation, urging the Ogoni people to set aside historical grievances and work together to achieve peace, development, and a clean environment.

He asked ministers, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, and the Rivers State Government to cooperate with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) to achieve this mandate.

President Bola Tinubu has said his administration has been targeting the financial backbone of terrorist groups in the country.

Tinubu said that over 100 terrorist financiers had been convicted in the last two years.

Speaking at the opening of the 2025 National Anti-Money Laundering, Counter-Financing of Terrorism and Proliferation (AML/CFT/CPF) Summit in Abuja, Tinubu who did not disclose names of any of the convicted financiers stated that the strategy was meant to prevent the terrorists from terrorizing the citizens.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, Tinubu said that his administration have made progress to tackle the threats of terrorism and other violent crimes through the gallant action of frontline troops and  security agencies.

Tinubu also said his administration acknowledged the roles of lawyers and accountants in the effort to protect the nation’s commonwealth. Tinubu, however, expressed concern over the greylisting of the country.
