Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has called on citizens to embrace the virtues of love, sacrifice, and unity as Christians around the world celebrate Easter.
In his 2026 Easter broadcast, the governor described the season as a sacred period marking the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He noted that the celebration rekindles faith and reassures believers of salvation and eternal life, adding that Christ’s victory over death remains a powerful symbol of hope for humanity.
Governor Eno urged residents to reflect on the selfless sacrifice of Christ, emphasizing that the season calls for service to others, renewed faith, and strengthened hope. He said Easter also presents an opportunity for individuals and communities to come together in love and unity.
The governor expressed appreciation to the people of Akwa Ibom for their prayers, trust, and continued support for his administration, noting that such confidence has enabled the government to take bold decisions in the overall interest of the state.
While reiterating the significance of the Easter message, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to development under the ARISE Agenda. He highlighted ongoing infrastructure efforts, including the construction of over 1,300 kilometres of roads, alongside recently approved additional projects.
According to him, government interventions have extended to all local government areas through initiatives such as model primary healthcare centres, schools, general hospitals, and rural development programmes.
Governor Eno concluded by wishing residents a joyful Easter celebration and prayed that the season brings peace, love, and renewed hope for a better future.
