IGP Orders Probe of Officers in Viral Lagos Stop-and-Search Video

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed officers captured in a viral stop-and-search video in Lagos to report to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for disciplinary proceedings.

The directive was disclosed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Aliyu Giwa, in a statement shared via his official X handle.

According to Giwa, the officers involved in the incident, which reportedly occurred in the Satellite Town area of Lagos, have been ordered to appear before authorities on Wednesday to answer questions regarding their conduct.

The move follows widespread public outrage over a video circulating on social media that shows officers allegedly harassing civilians during a roadside stop-and-search operation.

Giwa said the directive underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to accountability and professionalism. He urged officers to maintain discipline, exercise restraint, and respect citizens’ rights while carrying out their duties.
