ADC, NDC Submit Presidential Tickets to INEC Ahead of 2027 Election

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) have confirmed the submission of their presidential tickets to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal ahead of the 2027 general election.

ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, announced that the party had successfully uploaded the names and particulars of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi.

In a statement posted on his X account, Abdullahi described the submission as a significant milestone in the party’s preparations for the 2027 polls.

“We are pleased to announce that we have successfully uploaded the names and particulars of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and our Vice Presidential Candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, to the nomination portal of INEC,” he said.

He added that the move underscores the party’s commitment to offering Nigerians what it described as a credible alternative focused on competence, unity, and national renewal.

Similarly, NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, confirmed that he had completed his INEC nomination form and used the occasion to call for greater transparency in the electoral process.

In a post on Facebook, Obi said some of the questions contained in the nomination form prompted him to reflect on leadership and governance in Nigeria.

According to him, issues such as insecurity, hunger, and alleged mismanagement of public resources should take precedence over political activities.

Obi also urged INEC to publish the academic credentials submitted by all candidates seeking elective offices, arguing that transparency would strengthen public confidence in the electoral process.

“Transparency strengthens democracy and builds public trust. Nigeria’s problems are too serious for politics as usual. It is time for leadership defined by competence, character, capacity, compassion and commitment to service,” he stated.

Meanwhile, NDC vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, confirmed that his nomination had also been successfully uploaded to the INEC portal.

Kwankwaso disclosed that the party’s National Leader, Henry Seriake Dickson, informed him that his candidacy had been duly submitted alongside Obi’s as the NDC presidential ticket.

The submissions mark another key step in preparations for the 2027 general election as political parties continue to finalise their campaigns and strategies ahead of the polls.
