APC Labels Obi, Kwankwaso ‘Unserious’ Over Party Defections

The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has described opposition figures including Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso as “unserious” over what he termed their frequent changes of political parties.

Morka made the remarks on Monday while appearing on The Morning Brief on Channels Television, where he reacted to reports of the duo’s defection from the African Democratic Congress to the Nigeria Democratic Congress.

Both former presidential candidates in the 2023 general elections had cited ongoing litigations within the ADC and what they described as a toxic political climate as reasons for their exit. They also alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress was partly responsible for tensions within opposition parties.

However, Morka dismissed the claims, insisting that the APC had no role in the internal crises affecting opposition platforms.

He argued that the opposition leaders were simply seeking a more favourable platform to secure presidential tickets ahead of future elections.

“The narrative has been that the APC is responsible for all of the turmoil we have witnessed in the opposition parties. Are we now suggesting that these events that played out in the last 48 hours were also engineered by the APC?” he queried.

The development comes amid ongoing realignments within Nigeria’s political landscape as parties and aspirants begin positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections.
