“Believe Me, Mr President, Two Weeks After You Win the 2027 Elections, Bomb Blasts Will Stop” — Akpabio

ABUJA — Senate President Godswill Akpabio has alleged that recent terror attacks in Nigeria are politically motivated, claiming they are designed to distract President Bola Tinubu from governance.

Speaking during a public address, Akpabio said, “Believe me, Mr President, two weeks after you win the elections in 2027, the bomb blasts will stop. People are sponsoring it to distract you from your work.”

The Senate President’s remarks suggest that the resurgence of violent attacks may be linked to efforts to undermine the current administration ahead of the next general elections. However, he did not provide specific evidence to support the claim.

Nigeria continues to grapple with multiple security challenges, including insurgency, banditry, and other forms of violent crime, which have affected several regions and heightened concerns among citizens.

Akpabio reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing insecurity, noting that security agencies are working to curb attacks and restore stability across the country.

His comments have drawn mixed reactions, with supporters viewing them as a warning about political interference in national security, while critics argue that such claims require substantiation and could shift focus away from practical solutions to the country’s security challenges.

The presidency has not issued an official response to the statement, but authorities have consistently maintained that efforts are ongoing to improve security and safeguard lives and property nationwide.
