Gov Eno Receives First Batch of CNG Buses to Boost Transportation Across Akwa Ibom

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has hailed the arrival of the first batch of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses in the state, describing it as a significant step towards transforming the transportation system.

Speaking after receiving and inspecting the buses, Governor Eno said the 20 vehicles delivered are part of the 50 ordered by his administration to provide safer, easier, and more efficient transportation services across the state’s 31 local government areas.

The Governor commended the Ministry of Transport, the contractor, the military, and other stakeholders involved in the successful delivery of the buses. He noted that the next phase of the project will include the completion of bus terminal facilities, installation of tracking devices, and the introduction of a modern ticketing system.

According to him, the initiative is in line with his administration’s commitment to making transportation more accessible and convenient for residents, adding that the state’s improved road network provides a solid foundation for the new transport system.

Governor Eno described the project as part of a new phase of infrastructure development in the state, noting that many government projects are beginning to yield visible results.

He urged residents to remain confident in the government’s efforts, stressing that sustainable development requires patience, proper planning, and consistent execution.

The Governor also congratulated the Ministry of Transport and the people of Akwa Ibom State on the milestone, describing the new transport intervention as a positive sign for the future of the state.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Transport, Anthony Luke, commended Governor Eno for his vision and commitment to revitalising the transportation sector.

He said the arrival of the buses demonstrates the Governor’s determination to improve the quality of life for Akwa Ibom people through impactful and people-oriented policies.
