PDP Leadership Moves to Resolve Internal Crisis, Reaffirms Commitment to Unity

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has intensified efforts to address its internal challenges, as the Board of Trustees (BoT) and the National Caretaker Committee reaffirmed their commitment to party unity, adherence to court rulings, and preparations for congresses ahead of a national convention.

The renewed push follows the judgment of a Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, last Friday, which nullified the PDP’s national convention held between November 15 and 16, 2025.

Speaking at the 85th meeting of the PDP Board of Trustees in Abuja, BoT Chairman, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, urged party members to embrace peace and place the collective interest of the party above personal ambitions. He explained that the delay in conducting party congresses was a deliberate and cautious decision taken in deference to ongoing judicial processes, stressing that it did not amount to an abdication of responsibility.

Also addressing the meeting, the National Chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee, Abdulrahman Mohammed, described the current steps being taken by the party leadership as critical to ensuring stability at a defining moment in the PDP’s history.

Both leaders expressed confidence that ongoing consultations, reconciliation efforts, and the planned conduct of congresses would help reposition the PDP as a united, strong, and credible alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape.
