Algeria Qualifies for 2026 World Cup with Convincing 3-0 Win Over Somalia

Oran, Algeria – October 10, 2025

Algeria has booked its place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup following a dominant 3-0 victory over Somalia at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran.

Wolfsburg forward Mohamed Amoura starred in the match, scoring twice with assists from veteran winger Riyad Mahrez, who also got on the scoresheet to cap off an emphatic performance by the Desert Foxes.

The win cements Algeria’s position at the top of Group G, now sitting on 22 points from nine matches, four points ahead of second-placed Uganda with only one match remaining in the CAF qualifiers.

This will mark Algeria’s fifth appearance at the World Cup and their first since 2014, when they reached the Round of 16.

With this result, Algeria becomes the fourth African nation to officially qualify for the 2026 tournament, joining Morocco, Tunisia, and Egypt in representing the continent on football’s biggest stage.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with an expanded 48-team format for the first time in history.
