Abuja, Nigeria — President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving Nigeria’s electricity supply and enhancing the livelihoods of citizens through sustained investments in the power sector.
Speaking during a meeting with a delegation from an energy company led by Dietmar Siersdorfer, the Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the President emphasized that stable electricity remains central to Nigeria’s economic growth.
He noted that improved power infrastructure is crucial to advancing industrial, educational, and healthcare development across the country.
The meeting was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and the Special Adviser to the President on Energy, Olu Verheijen.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expressed optimism that the phased completion of the ongoing power projects would position Nigeria as a leading energy hub in Africa.
He further directed the expansion of several major transformer substations from two to three phases to enhance electricity generation and distribution nationwide.
President Tinubu assured the visiting delegation that his administration remains committed to providing the necessary resources and policy support to ensure the timely delivery of the projects and the overall improvement of the power sector.
